Over the next 3 weeks we will be looking at animals and their habitats. We will start with jungle and zoo animals, then farm animals, and finally we will be looking at pets.
In literacy we will be helping the children to recognise letters of personal significance, and continuing with our letter sounds. Activities will encourage children's fine motor skills and core strengths to help them to start to mark make positively and form recognisable shapes and pictures.
Our circle time phonics will be alliteration, voice sounds, and oral blending.
In maths we will continue to practise our finger counting up to 5, and then up to 10, and also continue looking at circles and triangles.
This part of the term includes the Lunar New Year on January 29th and we have some lovely Chinese crafts to make, and some Chinese food to taste at snack. The NSPCC number day is on February 7th so exciting maths activities will be included in our timetable that day, and February 14th is St Valentine's Day.
The children have already made some bird feeders to encourage the birds into our garden so we can count them for The Great Garden Bird Watch.
Here's hoping for some sunshine soon,
Everyone at Acorns x
